Maria Ciarniello (Tinaburri)

Born in Bagnoli del Trigno, Isernia, Italy, on June 19, 1941, Maria was the eldest of three girls and the only one in her family to immigrate to Canada, in 1959, to marry the love of her life, Settimio.

Surrounded by many friends and family who came to Canada before her, Maria raised three boys and supported the family as a dedicated housewife and hardworking seamstress. A city girl from Rome at heart, she grew fond of the new country and all the blessings it brought her children. She appreciated the finer things in life and would have liked to travel the world, but there was only one thing that ever really mattered to her, and that was the happiness and health of her children and their families. In recent years, it was her grandchildren who brought her the most joy; they all adored her.

Sadly, Maria passed away on December 29, 2016. She was predeceased by her eldest son Carlo and her parents Rosa and Carlo. She leaves behind her husband Settimio, sons Joe (Laura) and Roberto (Patricia), grandchildren Ian, Alexandria, Bradley, Anna, Grace and Dean and daughter-in-law Bronia.

We would like to thank Doctor Burns and the staff at Evergreen Care Unit and Willingdon Creek Village who did so much these past three years to help our mum. We also want to thank our aunts, uncles, many cousins and godparents who provided unconditional love and support.

Special thanks to Donna Newell, who treated our mum like her own, providing countless hours of therapy and hope to us all.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said Monday, January 2, 2017 at 10:30 am from St. Gerard’s Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, consider donations in Maria’s name to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society.

Mary Milner

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Milner (née Hammond), born May 23, 1933 in St. Albans, England, dearly departed January 3, 2017.

Mary was predeceased by her mom Mary, dad Albert and brother Albert “Albit.” Left to mourn are her children Christopher, Kathleen and Karen (Robin). Also left to mourn are Angela, mom’s grandchildren Justin (Kolbie), Josh (Sherry), Jesse, Scott (Samantha), Matt, Todd and great-grandchildren Cameron, Ethan, Claire and Emily.

Mom loved to swim, play tennis, go to the symphony and ballet. Sitting drinking coffee and people watching was a favourite pastime as well. Mom spent many weekends and summers in the Garden Bay/Lower Sunshine Coast area before moving to Powell River.

Mom studied to become a pharmacist at the London College Of Pharmacy For Women and practised in London before moving to Vancouver and working at Vancouver General Hospital before starting a family and raising her three kids.

The family would like to thank Lilia for the loving friendship she provided to our mom for the past two and a half years. We would also like to thank Lisa, Hailey, Bonnie, Lori and Hector, Lena and the rest of the wonderful staff at Willingdon Creek Village. Also, much appreciation for the care provided by Doctor Andreae.

A service will be held at a future date.

Sharon Ann Piccinin (née Auline)
September 20, 1944 - December 23, 2016

Sharon passed away peacefully with her husband Babe, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren by her side.

Babe and Sharon had 53 wonderful years together and raised four boys: Greg (Brenda), Dwayne, Dean (Brenna) and Brad (Erin). Sharon was extremely loved by all her grandchildren: Jayden, Claudia, Bailey, Sydni, Emily, Brayden, Dignan and Neve, and by grandpuppies Sophie, Chewy and Hersche.

The family would like to thank everyone who lent their support. Many thanks to Doctor Rossouw, Doctor Uhlmann and all the nurses and staff on the fourth floor.

Your love of the cabin will be carried on through all of your family. We love you and will miss you.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice. No service by request.
