(Melvin) Glen Calwell
January 18, 1935 - October 22, 2016

Glen Calwell of Osoyoos passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 81 years.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Calwell, sisters Cora Calwell, Marg Simonetta and Joan Wootton (Doug), sister-in-law Darlene Calwell, daughter Cindy (Dave), grandson Jason (Emily), three great-grandchildren Justin, Daniel and Elizabeth and his son Rick. Glen is also survived by many nieces and grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews, as well as his two cats Simba and Snuggles. He was predeceased by his brother Allen Calwell and brother-in-law Sam Simonetta.

Glen was born at Rock Bay, BC, and raised in the Lund/Powell River area. His first job was at the MacMillan Bloedel pulp mill in Powell River. He was a sheet metal mechanic, oil burner mechanic and owned his own heating business. He was also a fisherman, fishing vessel owner and a cash buyer.

Glen and his wife “retired” to Osoyoos in 1995. Teresa “paid” Howie Hebig to let Glen act as his “go for” for several years. He enjoyed assisting Dale and Anita Lehman in building their house in Osoyoos and spent several years shopping every morning with Randy Ihmie.

Glen enjoyed having friends over, especially for smoked salmon or smoked black cod, or maybe just turkey dinner.

A special thanks to Dr. Megan Kimberley, Dr. Bellingan and to the staff at the hospital in Oliver for their consideration and care in Glen's final days.

He will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA would be appreciated.

Condolences and tributes may be directed to the family by visiting nunes-pottinger.com.
