Diet (Sebedina) Van Es, April 8, 1942 - July 16, 2015
It is with heavy hearts but fond memories that we regretfully share the passing of Diet (Sebedina) Van Es, at her farm and beloved home on July 16. Diet is survived by her husband of 53 years and true life partner Rien, as well as her children Alice and Eddie. She was a dear sister to Pim, Henni and Riek. Her grandchildren, Michael and Jaimie, will miss her immensely, as will her wide network of friends in the Powell River community, where she has made her home for nearly 60 years.
Diet had a profound effect on those who were privileged enough to know and be loved by her. A skilled farmer and homesteader, her life was one of doing-it-yourself, trying and figuring things out. While she rejected the term “teacher,” her wisdom and advice nonetheless flowed through the community and will for years to come. Diet’s company, open door and open heart will be sorely and deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
