Margaret Elsie Schindeler (née Beattie)
August 26, 1930 - December 13, 2015

We are sad to announce the passing of our mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and good friend to many. She passed away peacefully at Evergreen Extended Care Unit in Powell River with family and friends by her side.

Mom was born in Vancouver to George and Elsie Beattie of Gorge Harbour, Cortez Island, and spent many years there before arriving in Powell River in the mid-1940s and graduating from Brooks Secondary School in 1949. She married the love of her life Ralph Schindeler in 1951 and had three children Georgia, David and Lee.

Margaret was a homemaker and also worked in retail for several years. She enjoyed life and had a good sense of humour. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone and was a kind and compassionate person. She curled for many years and was quite good.

Mom and dad enjoyed being on their different boats all over the coast, travelling as far as Prince Rupert. In retirement, they traveled by car mostly throughout North and Central America, until mom had a life-changing stroke in Reno, Nevada, in 1997 on their way home. She had a good recovery but suffered much hardship. She moved into care, first at Powell River General Hospital in November 2011 and then into the extended care unit in January 2012.

Mom was predeceased by her mom and dad, sister Norah, her husband Ralph and eldest son David. Left to mourn are daughter Georgia (Mark), son Lee, grandchildren Rowyn and Carmen Devito (Steven), great-grandchildren Caleb and Ben Devito, many nieces and nephews and many friends.

Margaret was a dedicated member of the Anglican Church all her life. She was also a long-standing member of Tops, chapter BC2736, for many years and a longtime member of Powell River Stroke Recovery Club, which she continued to attend until last spring. As a young girl, Margaret was in Job’s Daughters and Order of the Eastern Star.

A funeral service for mom will be held Monday, December 21, at noon at St. David and St.Paul’s Anglican Church, 6310 Sycamore Street, with luncheon to follow in the basement.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Powell River Stroke Recovery Club c/o Royal Canadian Legion Branch #164, or to a charity of choice, would be greatly appreciated.

Leon “Skip” Willson

Sadly we announce the passing of Skip on Sunday, December 6. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Cheryl. He was born and raised in Kaslo, BC.

Skip and Cheryl were avid boaters and loved to fish. They chose Powell River for retirement, loving the relaxing lifestyle and recreation available here. He was a good friend and fishing buddy to many. He will be missed.
