HUME, William Barrie Gordon~ Aug 24, 1941 - Aug 31, 2015

Barrie peacefully rode out on his own horse on the evening of August 31st, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife Bernice (Charlie) of 51 years, his only son Terry (TD) and daughter in law Tracy (WD) and Grandchildren Stephen and Katryna of Maple Ridge. Pre-deceased by his mother Phyllis May Mc Nary in 2006. Through out Barrie’s life he touched a great number of people through his passion of boating, fishing and gambling. He will be missed by his family, many close friends and his CP Rail buddies. Barrie and Bernice moved to Powell River when he retired from CP Rail over 25 years ago. Barrie never looked back or came back to the Ridge area again. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC SPCA may be made and would be appreciated. Barrie’s wishes were very clear; there will be no service or celebration of life. There will be a toast to Barrie at a later date; to be announced. Barrie will be remembered for his tenacity for life and his easy going attitude.

Starr Tanis Rushton ~ 1948 - 2015

After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her friends and family, Starr Tanis Rushton passed away at the age of 67 years, on August 30 at Powell River General Hospital. She was born on August 4, 1948 in Edmonton, Alberta. She spent most of her years as a resident of Powell River. She was an exceptionally caring woman, who was always willing to put others ahead of herself. She was greatly beloved by many family members and friends. She is survived by her mother Jessie, sister Annette and brother Garry, children Tammy, Lori and Richard, son-in-law Rick, grandchildren Kyle and Tye and many other close relatives and countless friends.

There will be a celebration of life honouring Starr on Saturday, September 19 from 2 to 5 pm in the Beach Gardens Pow-Wow Room. Our family would like to send our gratitude to the medical physicians and staff at Powell River General Hospital for the wonderful care Starr received during her stay. A special thank you goes out to her doctors, Bruce Hobson and Charles Van Zyl. Their tender care and compassion

for Starr during her time will never be forgotten. The slogan “no one fights alone,” has never been more apparent than in her fight against cancer.

Jean Tyrrell (née Cummings)

God has taken an angel. Left with memories are her husband of 58 years Raymond, son Geoffrey (June), the joys of her life, grandchildren Brogan and Cailin, all of Powell River; son Steven of Vancouver, sister Sylvia of Campbell River, her sons David and family of Richmond and Mark and family of Victoria; brother and sister-in-law Alan and Janet Tyrrell of England, and their son Ross of Australia, as well as many family and friends.

Jean loved to travel. She and Raymond took many memorable trips in Canada as well as abroad. Jean fought a courageous battle with cancer and although it took her life, it could not take her spirit.

No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s name to Canadian Cancer Society. She will be greatly missed.

Bon Voyage, Mom.
