Fits to a T outfits for every occasion
Fits to a T is celebrating its fifth anniversary in business with 25 per cent off everything in the store.
“These five years have just flown by so fast I can’t believe it,” says Tanya Close, owner of the clothing store.
Fits to a T offers an enjoyable place to shop for upbeat, fun items and no better season epitomizes that than summer with bouncy, colourful tops, some of them patterned and overlaid with just the right touch of modern sequins to give the piece a shimmering look. Capris and Bermuda shorts add their own touch to an outfit. “These types of bottoms are very strong this season,” says Tanya.
T-shirts and tanks with a little embellishing, perhaps some lace, or a happy print are a great choice for a summer heat wave.
Even the shoes convey a feeling of lightheartedness. Many of them are unusual and use colour and design to match that sense of playfulness, giving a joyful uplift to the entire outfit. Whimsical flip-flops, sandals or perhaps a wedge could be just the right touch to finish off a cool summer look.
Fits to a T can get serious too with formal wear for weddings or graduation, including a good selection of appropriate shoes and bags to complete the outfit. Handbags are medium to large in size and the two most popular lines are Mexx, and Suede and Company. Also available are quality wallets—easily affordable because they are constructed from man-made fabrics.
Spring and summer fashions are light and flowy. Fall and winter brings on a full selection of clothes to enhance the career. Blazers with a cropped pant, or an A-line skirt topped with a light knit sweater can say you’re ready for work but make a fashion statement at the same time. A peep-toed pump or wedge sandal finishes the look to perfection.
Fits to a T carries Bianca-Nygard year-round, a collection of matching jacket, top and bottom suiting. Kersh offers fun tops and knits in great colours and fabrics. Lois Jeans, in regular or petite sizes are designed to fit all different body shapes, and another great line is Proportional Petites.
Sizes range from four to 18 in the regular lines.
When winter grips the outside in a film of frost, Fits to a T has clothes that fight off the dropping temperatures and are soft, warm and cuddly.
“Women usually are not happy with their body image. At Fits to a T, we help women work with what they’ve got,” says Tanya. “All women are unique and we try to make them feel good about themselves.”
Tanya recounts the story of a woman who recently came in to purchase a wedding suit, the third such mother-of-the-bride ensemble, and she wasn’t in the mood to go through the process of trying on numerous outfits. “I picked out an edgy jacket, and the woman said, ‘Well you’ve never steered me wrong before,’ and put it on. Looking at herself in the mirror, she knew she was going to get the wow factor from the family, and that her daughters were all going to fight over that jacket. She was so happy she virtually skipped out of the store.
“People sometimes come in knowing that they want something specific,” says Tanya. “I always suggest that people be open to playing with different colours and styles.
“This season black and whites are big, while accessorizing with red in jewelry, handbags or shoes adds just the punch of colour needed. It doesn’t have to match, it just has to go,” she says.
At Fits to a T, they offer more options and selections, in styles of more than one colour to suit every taste.
Tanya’s mother lives in the Powell River area, which initially drew Tanya here. Before that she lived in Vancouver where she worked in retail. Her schooling is in costume and fashion design, combined with business management.
“After living here for five years, Powell River feels like home,” she says. “I feel like I play a role in the community and I am grateful to the community for making my business the success that it is today.”
