Quiet night
Powell River RCMP had a relatively quiet Halloween night this year despite the fact this year’s festivities fell on a Saturday night. Police only responded to 14 complaints between 5 pm on Saturday, October 31, to 6 am on Sunday, November 1. Sergeant Cam Muir said proactive patrols by police resulted in numerous seizures of liquor.
Police also seized fireworks from anyone, regardless of age, found using fireworks on public property. The vast majority of youths who had contact with police were well-behaved and respectful of the community, Muir said.
Hit and run
RCMP received a report of a hit-and-run accident at the Powell River Recreation Complex. A brown Ford F150 truck had been parked there from 5 to 10 pm on October 23. During this time an unknown vehicle hit and damaged the truck.
