In celebration of three years at its current location, Afterglow Hair Lounge is having an afterparty on Saturday, April 1. Featuring a cash bar, music, door prizes, storewide flash sale, free gifts with purchases and complimentary stylings, the anniversary party is the first of its kind for the popular hair salon.
“We wanted to do something exciting for our third anniversary,” says owner Holly Lowes. “We haven’t really had an event like this before, so we’re really excited to be able to share it with our friends and all of our clients. It’s going to be a really fun night for everybody.”
Since starting the business six years ago, and moving to the current Alberni Street location on April 1, 2014, Lowes has seen steady growth in her loyal client base. The afterparty is a way for staff to give something back to those who have supported the salon.
“It’s really important to me to have a fun event where our clients can come and celebrate with us,” she says, “because they do get excited when we have a milestone and something fun like this comes up.”
In addition to the giveaways, free stylings, a grand-prize draw and a 20 per cent storewide sale on products, partygoers will also be able to watch the salon’s stylists at work and ask for their own styling advice and tips.
Clients will also have a chance to meet Afterglow’s newest senior stylist, Chantal Hildering. With more than eight years of experience, Hildering specializes in barber cuts, razor cutting, colouring and special occasion styling.
“Chantal is a fabulous fit for Afterglow,” says Lowes. “Her vision is really in line with ours; we’re really focused on the latest trends. We do a lot of colour and really progressive barber cutting and Chantal definitely fits in with that.”
Lowes says the planning and timing of Afterglow’s anniversary party fit perfectly with Hildering joining its team.
“Chantal said she would like to start at the beginning of April and I said, ‘How about April 1? We’re going to have a party!’ She thought that was great.”
