FRIDAY

 

International Choral Kathaumixw’s popular folk and traditional competition takes place from 9-11 am Friday, July 8, in the Great Hall at Powell River Recreation Complex. Members of each participating choir wear their national dress. Also competing are vocal soloists, maximum 21 years old, and children’s choirs. Admission is free.

 

International Choral Kathaumixw’s final Promenade Concert takes place at 11 am Friday, July 8, at Spirit Square on the Wharf at Westview, and features the Richmond Singers from Canada and Wah Yan College Kowloon Boys Choir from China. Admission is free.

 

International Choral Kathaumixw Awards Concert takes place at 8 pm Friday, July 8, in the Great Hall at Powell River Recreation Complex. The concert will feature first-place choirs and soloists from four days of competition. Tickets available at the complex, upper foyer.

 

SATURDAY

International Choral Kathaumixw Gala Closing Concert takes place at 8 pm Saturday, July 9, in the Great Hall at Powell River Recreation Complex. A thousand-voice choir sings the final selection and the choir of the world is announced and will receive a newly carved totem pole.

Lutheran Church

Everyone on any journey of faith is welcome to worship beginning at 10 am on Sundays at Faith Lutheran Church, corner of Ontario Avenue and Alberni Street. A food cupboard is hosted from 12-1 pm on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. Everyone is welcome.

 

Malaspina Naturalists Club

Mixed Men’s and Women’s Dragon Boat Paddling

People in Pain holds People in Pain Support Group meeting from 2-4 pm on the first Tuesday of each month at Powell River General Hospital in the meeting room downstairs next to the cafeteria. Admission is free.

 

Pipe Band

Learn to play the great Highland bagpipe and fundamentals of music with the Lads and Lassies Pipe Band, 7 pm each Thursday, beginning in January, 7170 Esquimalt Court. Reach to Recovery

Reach to Recovery provides hospital and home visits to recently diagnosed breast cancer patients. Service offers one-on-one counselling with trained counsellors for women who have had breast cancer, and provides information. Special Olympics
