Royal LePage tailgate party is back

Family-friendly fundraiser to rev up Powell River Kings fans
Tailgate Party
Young hockey players will hit the ice during the intermission of tonight’s Powell River Kings game as part of Royal Lepage’s Kings Tailgate Party.

Royal LePage is bringing back the tailgate party at tonight’s Powell River Kings game. Starting at 5:30 pm with a barbecue and live music by local rockers Paradise, the tailgate party precedes the Kings’ home game versus Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

“We want everyone to come and listen to the music and visit with each other before the game,” says Royal LePage managing broker Dawn Adaszynski. “It’s a community party.”

Held at the front entrance to Hap Parker Arena at Powell River Recreation Complex, proceeds from the fundraising event go toward two local charities, Powell River United Way and Grace House.

“We do this as a family event. We really believe in giving back to the community,” says Adaszynski. “It supports the Kings by getting people out to the game, but more importantly it supports United Way and Grace House.”

Aside from burgers and snacks, another calling card at the popular event is the chance to win a variety of impressive prizes geared toward family and fitness.

“Bring extra cash because we have amazing prizes,” says Adaszynski.

Prizes include return airfare for two to Vancouver, courtesy of Pacific Coastal Airlines; a standup paddle board from RBC’s Rachelle Ford; a Vancouver Canucks jersey from Cover Your Assets Inspection Service; a Powerbeat S2 Wireless from Southview Forest Services; an adult hockey package from Powell River Kings; and many more.

As if that was not enough, the first 200 adults who arrive to the party will receive a complimentary $5 pack of 50/50 tickets courtesy of Villani and Company and Underwriters Insurance Agencies, starting the winning pot at $1,000.

Adaszynski says the family-friendly event is about the community coming together for two good causes, United Way, which the real estate company has a longstanding relationship with, and Grace House, supported through The Shelter Foundation.

“It’s Royal LePage’s own foundation and it supports women’s shelters throughout Canada,” says Adaszynski. “Every dollar that’s donated to the foundation goes to the Grace House in your community.”
