Sexual assault investigation continues

Powell River RCMP is awaiting laboratory examination and analysis that could possibly determine DNA evidence obtained from the scene of a sexual assault in Powell River on December 30, 2017.

The incident took place on the 4300 block of Joyce Avenue where a 41-year-old woman reported that an unidentified man entered her home and sexually assaulted her.

RCMP has no description of the suspect in an ongoing investigation. Police also have said the public is not at risk.

If DNA is identified, it will be compared to samples held in the DNA databank of known sex offenders.
