Supports tennis court resurfacing
At its meeting on Thursday, March 16, Powell River Regional District committee of whole will recommend to its board that it provide $99,096 in the 2017 budget for resurfacing the Craig Regional Park tennis court, a project it originally sought to complete in 2018. Staff felt it would be able to negotiate a better price for the work if the Craig project was combined with the similar Palm Beach Regional Park tennis resurfacing already scheduled for this year. The Craig Park project budget will include a 20 per cent contingency, funds for improving signage and a five per cent administrative charge.
Hears draft five-year plan
Regional district manager of financial services Linda Greenan presented to the committee on work going into developing the regional district’s five-year financial plan. The plan is expected to be approved at the regional board’s next meeting on Thursday, March 23.
Supports bike week
Regional district’s committee of the whole approved a recommendation to its board to support providing $700 in financial assistance to Powell River Cycling Association for its annual bike to work and school event. This year the event will take place between May 29 and June 4.
