It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Joan Elizabeth Vandale. She was born in Saskatchewan on June 12, 1958. Joan passed away peacefully at Powell River General Hospital with family and friends by her side on July 16, 2017, at age 59 after her battle with cancer. Not only was she our wonderful mother, she was also an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
Joan is survived by her children Ray (Shannon), Crystal, Candice (Blake) and Tyrell (Paige) and her seven grandchildren Skylar, Jordynn, Ryinn, Dillon, Brooklynn, Dre and Jaxon. She is also survived by her sisters Debbie (Rich) Brand of Oklahoma, USA, and Donna (Craig) Vandale of Vernon, as well as her five nephews and two nieces.
Joan was predeceased by her father and mother, Michael and Helen Vandale, brothers Kenneth, Richard and Jerome Vandale, and sister Emily (Jim) Vandale.
Joan was loved by many. Everyone will remember her laugh and unforgettable smile. To the many who knew Joan, they all know it did not matter what the circumstances were, she always put everyone first, especially her family.
One of her wishes she asked for was to make sure Rob and Sherry Irwin/Galligos know how truly, appreciative and thankful she was for everything they both did for her and for taking care and being there for her, especially through the tough times. She could not express that enough.
Thank you Dr. Takhar, Dr. White and his wife, Janet from oncology and many others who were there during Joan’s journey throughout her battle with cancer.
A celebration of life will be held at 7 pm on Friday, July 21, at Stubberfield Funeral Home.
