That Powell River needs to engage in a discussion about the waste its residents produce is apparent. New developments in initiatives the City of Powell River may pursue with Catalyst Paper Corporation make the public discussion more urgent.
EDITORIAL: Protecting the past
Simon Fraser University archaeologists have returned for another summer of digging, uncovering the history of the Powell River area. Professors and students have embarked on the second field study in Tla'Amin (Sliammon) First Nation's traditional territory. The project is in partnership with Tla'Amin and provides the basis for documenting scientifically what the community's elders have long told in stories.
