Cross-country runners hit trails

Westview elementary grade six girls dominate

Elementary school students from seven schools around the area were on the run last month in School District 47’s annual fall cross country race.

There were 110 runners, ranging from grades three to seven, who took on the course close to Kelly Creek Community School. The students seemed to have a great time running the course said the race organizers who hope to see more runners take part in the spring cross country runs.

The top six finishes for each category are:

Grade three girls: first Charlotte Leahy-McHugh, Edgehill Elementary School (EES); second Maia Pinsonneault, École Côte du Soleil (ECdS); third Mya Conroy, Kelly Creek Community School (KCCS); fourth Luce Liefsoens, ECdS; fifth Brooklyn Miller, Westview Elementary School (WES).

Grade three boys: first Tyler Durant, KCCS; second Justin Dendewicz, EES; third Liam Carroll, ECdS; fourth Kye Pence, Assumption School (AS); fifth Evan Piniewski, Henderson Elementary School (HES); sixth Kyle Piazza, EES.

Grade four girls: first Shea O’Donnell, WES; second Ginger Calder-Williams, ECdS; third Karlyle Cleine, HES; fourth Phoebe Schur, WES; fifth Naomi Krowitz, WES; sixth Dana Dennis, WES.

Grade four boys: first Adam Cantryn, AS; second Colt Pence, AS; third Lochlan Reed, EES; fourth Tanner Burt, WES; fifth Aaron Schweitzer, Partners in Education (PIE); sixth Griffin Leach, WES.
