New Beginnings Laser Center has a lot to celebrate as its one-year anniversary approaches. A new location, a brand new partner and some exclusive equipment have owner Angela Desilets excited for the future.

“Things are only growing,” she says.

When the spa first opened in 2019, it was Angela’s five-year plan to stay in her first location before expanding, however, the response from Powell River in the first few months of business “was so amazing.”

Seven months later, the spa found its forever home at 7-4313 Alberta Avenue, above the former location.

Initially starting out on her own, trying to grow the business while building trust and a good reputation in town, Angela has had loyal clients since she first opened the spa doors.

Joining the team and partnering with Angela is Eleni Karasakalidou (Be Bold Beauty), who does microblading and lashes along with spa treatments.

“Friends had initially said that Eleni and I should team up to work together,” says Angela. “After we met and discovered we had the same set of goals, standards and vision for the business, we teamed up.”

The pair were set to reopen on April 1, but when COVID-19 hit, a bit of an adjustment was necessary and things were delayed.

“It was brutal at first, but it gave us the opportunity to get things done,” says Angela.

Since reopening the doors May 20, business has been in full swing. Angela is grateful they have been fully booked and are booking appointments into December.

New Beginnings offer a wide range of services, including hair removal; facials; microdermabrasion with or without a chemical peel; body sculpting with cavitation; face toning/tightening treatments and microneedling, which is a collagen treatment that fills in fine lines and wrinkles. A partnership was made with DermaSpark out of Vancouver, which provides top-of-the-line equipment to esthetician businesses.

“The microneedling is by Dermaroller, a gold standard in microneedling,” explains Angela. “Not only will we be providing treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, but it also does scalp treatments for hair regrowth in men and women.”

The newest treatment is the OxyGeneo 3-in-1 machine, which is exclusive to Powell River. It exfoliates, oxygenates and infuses with three different treatment options: skin cleansing with activated bamboo charcoal; skin brightening with vitamin C; and skin rejuvenation with red algae.

The goal of the spa is to always put its customers first while providing a relaxing and pampering pain-free experience, says Angela. She sought out the best product line she could find for the spa and found an organic line called Beautycounter, which also advocates for the industry in getting better skin-care products made.

Angela says she believes New Beginnings is not an average spa and truly loves what it can provide to people looking to improve their health.

“We are working with helping people age gracefully, redefining what getting older looks like,” she says. “We are all going to age, but I can tell you that our bodies age faster than our minds, so it’s hard getting older. We are here to help slow down the process.”

New Beginnings will be running a special for the month of August. Facials, regularly $150, will be on for $130 and Tripollar antiaging/toning and tightening on for $120.

“Customers can call or text to set up a free consultation to choose the best treatment options for ultimate results,” says Angela, who can be reached at 604.413.0551. Eleni’s number is 604.344.1922.
