Powell River Heating & Air Conditioning builds on three years of success

Customer satisfaction sets company apart
Powell River Heating & Air Conditioning

Locally owned and operated, Powell River Heating & Air Conditioning continues to build on its rock-solid reputation for customer satisfaction with three years of helping homeowners and contractors with heating and cooling solutions.

Owner Peter Bordignon says the company’s pricing and reliable service sets it apart from the competition. Much of its business and many of its newest customers come from word-of-mouth referrals, he adds.

“If you haven’t heard of us and about how we do business, ask your family or friends in town what their experience with us has been,” says Peter. “Thanks to our great clients spreading their positive comments along, that has been one of the biggest drivers of our success.”

Peter says his approach is to be straight-up honest with his customers about the extent of any necessary repairs or installations. He stands by the high-quality products Powell River Heating & Air Conditioning sells, and the services it performs.

“If I wouldn’t put something in my own home, I won’t put it in yours,” says Peter. “We're reliable, honest and don’t make band-aid fixes to bill you, only to come back and charge you more to fix it again. We also won’t send someone to your home who has no experience working on a certain appliance, to only make the issue worse, cost more money, or create a dangerous situation.”

Powell River Heating & Air Conditioning formed in December 2016 and is the region’s exclusive dealer for Carrier products. The company also services almost every other make and model of heating and cooling equipment.

Powell River Heating & Air Conditioning is fully certified, bonded and insured, and offers 24-hour emergency service.

The team has grown with a solid core of technicians and office staff.

Peter, a ticketed gas fitter and HVAC technician with 13 years of experience, controls all the day-to-day operations and quoting, but still gets on the tools on a regular basis. Gary Slootweg, a ticketed gas fitter of 31 years, is currently on leave, but his return is much anticipated to keep up with the ever growing demand.

Dan Holmes, a TECA-certified and ticketed sheet-metal mechanic and gas fitter of 40 years, designs and builds all the company’s ductwork in-house, along with installation. Red Seal gas fitter Mike Ure has more than 24 years of experience with both natural gas and propane installations and service. Apprentice Hank Upton, with several years of experience, will have his HVAC and gas fitting tickets in 2020. Newcomer JP Hunter helps out in the field and is eager to get a trade under his belt.

Megan Thistle has transitioned from company bookkeeper to office manager and has tons of knowledge of the trade. Peter says every employee is very important to the team.

“I want to thank my crew and their families for working on their days off, holidays and late hours in order to help our customers,” he adds. “We wouldn’t have the reputation we have if our tightly bonded team wasn’t one step above the others.”

Peter says he is also thankful for the support from the contractors and homeowners in town. The company’s new construction workload is already booked for much of next year, and residential installs are booking well into the new year. But, he adds, especially during the winter, the company prioritizes calls for emergency services and installations.

“If there is an emergency, people won’t be waiting in the cold too long; we’ll get in there and get the heat going in short order, but for everything else be sure to call well in advance and get in the queue because the wait times only seem to be going up,” explains Peter. “To be completely honest, if we cannot make it in your time frame, we will tell you and not lead you on. If that happens, I apologize in advance, and will steer you in the best direction to help you out.”

Peter says the entire team at Powell River Heating & Air Conditioning wishes everyone a “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
