Community brief: Duo accepts gingerbread award in Powell River

CREATIVE REWARD: Winners and runners-up in multiple categories for Powell River’s 12th Annual Gingerbread Contest were recently recognized at Town Centre Hotel.

Nicole Bicknell [left] presented the first place award in the business category to Jen Mostat [centre] and Naomi Salmond [right] from Canadian Martial Arts Academy.

Visitors to the hotel were able to vote on their favourite creations for a toonie while they were on display throughout December and into January.

Funds raised were matched by Town Centre Hotel and donated to Powell River Professional Firefighters’ burn fund.

Categories included schools, families, adults, teens, businesses and banks.
