Holiday greetings: City of Powell River mayor David Formosa

More than most others, 2020 was a year to reflect on the strength, resolve and fortitude of Powell River. I am truly proud to be mayor of a city that has remained so steadfast in the efforts for a healthy community.

More than most others, 2020 was a year to reflect on the strength, resolve and fortitude of Powell River. I am truly proud to be mayor of a city that has remained so steadfast in the efforts for a healthy community.

You, our citizens, are primarily to thank for the dedication of keeping our economy going, working tirelessly to keep each other safe, and staying kind to one another.

Despite the challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, our community is still growing and thriving. More families, retirees, investors and developers are finding their way to our coastal paradise and making roots. We have begun construction on the new wastewater treatment plant and continue to see other projects spring up around our small city.

With this continual growth, it is important to be reminded of those who may not be as fortunate or may have come upon especially difficult times this past year. I thank all of you who give back and encourage the same where possible. It is that shared value of community that keeps our beautiful city as such an attractive destination.

As we look forward to another year, let us hope for more stability, maintain our resiliency, and stay as positive and healthy as we can to make for a better 2021.

On behalf of city council and senior staff, I wish all our citizens and employees a very merry Christmas and happy, healthy new year. God bless.
