August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day and it was officially recognized in the City of Powell River with a flag raising at city hall.
Participating in the flag raising ceremony today [from left] were city councillor Rob Southcott; city employee Eirian John; Lyn Nicol, from Moms Stop the Harm and the overdose awareness panel; and councillors Maggie Hathaway and George Doubt.
Mayor Dave Formosa proclaimed August 31 as International Overdose Awareness Day in and about Powell River at a city council meeting on August 20.
A flag received at that meeting from Moms Stop the Harm representative Darlana Treloar will fly over city hall throughout the day today.
