GOOD DECISIONS: Powell River’s eighth annual Prevention of Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth (PARTY) program ran Monday, February 11, but was cancelled Tuesday and Wednesday due to the snowy weather and school closures. By creating a mock accident scene and real-life scenarios, grade 11 students are taken through a series of stations at Powell River General Hospital illustrating the potential consequences of their actions in relation to drug, alcohol and hazard-related incidents. Many groups throughout the community are involved in making it happen. The remaining two days will likely be rescheduled for May, according to Powell River Fire Rescue chief Terry Peters.
