Student Life: With every fall comes a recovery

Life is a never-ending series of waves that will crash against you. There will be good times, and then there will be bad.

There will be moments where everything just seems too loud, when the world just won’t make sense and navigating it will seem almost impossible.

It’s no secret. We’ve all had it rough at one point or another. The average student has definitely had their fair share of instances like these.

Our lives are full of overwhelming expectations, new and frightening experiences, and stressful learning curves. What makes these things more intense is the fact that we are young.

We’re not quite sure how to handle these situations and not all of us have quite developed our hard shell. We’re left raw and open.

We can’t always take everything with a grain of salt and that can weigh on us. It’s okay to have a moment of weakness. We spend so much time, especially as anxious teenagers, trying to keep up appearances and trying to keep our heads above water just like everyone else, but we can’t suppress these things.

As a generation, we are learning. We’re opening up a lot more and raising awareness to mental health, however, that doesn’t mean we should slow down. These things are still easier said than done.

There’s still a lot of stress, tension, and struggle in the hallways and in the classrooms. Once again, we don’t have to keep these things inside, but by saying that, we also shouldn’t hang on to them.

With every fall comes a recovery. We have to learn not to wallow in self-pity and other toxic feelings and get back up. We can and we should talk about our hard times, but we should use that to build ourselves up and grow stronger.
