Whale rescue training exercise draws crowd in Powell River (VIDEO)

Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Wild Ocean Whale Society practise marine mammal refloatation at Willingdon Beach

At Willingdon Beach on the morning of Saturday, February 15, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Wild Ocean Whale Society conducted an exercise with an artificial whale, dealing with a simulated stranding.

The team on the Powell River beach used a coordinated approach to attach floats to the whale and get it back to the water.

The marine mammal stranding/refloatation training exercise drew onlookers as passersby stopped to view the proceedings.
