Martian Christmas

Timofei Zonov
École Côte-du-Soleil

Just before Christmas 2990, people first colonized the planet Mars. Unfortunately, their communication system was broken, and they did not have spare parts to fix it.

As they were the first spaceship sent to Mars, they couldn’t ask for help from the other spaceships with their fellow pioneers, since the latter had started much later and were farther away in space.

On Earth, one boy heard on the news that communication with Mars was lost. The boy wanted to help the colonizers of Mars. He got the idea to do a big fundraiser, and with the proceeds, to buy and send a speedy repair ship to Mars.

He collected enough money and following his plan, he bought a little spaceship that was built to be fast. He packed the necessary materials for repairs, some gifts, a Christmas tree, and Christmas decorations.

When the ship arrived at destination, it was almost Martian Christmas because Martian years are two times longer than on Earth. The reason why a year on Mars is longer is the longer distance between the Sun and Mars, which causes a larger orbital size.

The ship got repaired, and the Martians contacted their families, who were celebrating Christmas on Earth.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Earthlings and Martians!

Danger on the ice

Jayden Johnson
Westview Elementary School

One snowy cold day I wanted to go ice skating so my mom and I walked to the ice rink and went skating.

My mom likes playing hockey with me, but when we were playing, the other team shot the puck, wristed it and it hit me in the shoulder. It was excruciating pain. I dropped to the ice, my blood rushing rapidly.

My mom came over in a scurry. She asked, “Are you okay?”

I responded faintly, “Yes.”

She grabbed me by my other shoulder and took me to get some refreshing cold water from the fountain.

As we were drinking the ice-cold water, the guy that hit me came up and apologized nicely. While he was walking away, I heard him mutter, “Merry Christmas, kid.”

Prancer The Normal Nosed Reindeer

Eli Conroy
Kelly Creek Community School

You all have heard Rudolph’s story but have you heard Prancer’s? Prancer didn’t have many friends. In fact, he had none. Before Rudolph came, Prancer was made fun of. The only reason Prancer made fun of Rudolph was because he felt like he was part of the group. He felt like he had friends.

As the weeks went by, Rudolph began to become popular. Prancer was sad because he still didn’t have any friends. So, he asked Rudolph to be his friend but Rudolph said, “No.”

It was now Christmas. Prancer was sad and then when Santa was thanking Rudolph, that set Prancer over the edge.

“What about the other eight reindeer who pulled the sleigh?” he thought. “Did Santa thank anyone else? Nope!”

Prancer threw a tantrum. He kicked snow, he yelled, and when Santa asked him what was wrong, he told him.

Santa told Prancer that Christmas is a time to think about others, not yourself.

Prancer said he was sorry and then all the reindeer and elves sang Christmas carols.
