FILM CELEBRATION: Powell River Digital Film School students [from left] Ariyah Reuven, Brendan Durant, Justin Davidson, Tao-Milan Morgenstern, Miranda  Kelly, Jesica Pearce, Nyah Christie, Macy How, Dylan Craig, William Murray and Ray Chapman are gearing up for their year-end gala taking place Thursday, June 20, at the Patricia Theatre.

The evening begins with a 6 pm reception followed at 7 pm by a screening of selected short films created during the students’ five-month tenure at the school.

Celebrating its 12th year, the film school founded by lead instructor Tony Papa offers students from Powell River and beyond a place to learn about and practice the art of filmmaking in a hands-on, film community setting.

After completing the program students can continue on to post-secondary institutions using dual-credit affiliations at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Toronto Film School, Capilano University and Langara College.

The public is encouraged to attend the screening and support young filmmakers. Admission is by donation. The group is also accepting donations of food items on behalf of Powell River Action Centre Food Bank.
