Canada Day celebration coming to The Shipyards on North Van waterfront

Starting at noon, there'll be live music, a splash park and a retro dance party at this year's July 1 festivities 🍁

On July 1, you can head down to North Vancouver's Shipyards District for a day of music, refreshments and all-ages fun.

This year’s Canada Day celebration hosted by Shipyards Live and The Rotary Club of Lions Gate will feature live music on two stages from noon to 10 p.m., face painting for kids, and an all-ages splash park.

There’ll be a retro video dance party in the Pipe Shop from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and a patio beer garden presented by Stanley Park Brewing from noon to 10 p.m., with happy hour running from open to 3 p.m.

Eats will be available all day in food truck lane.

With the holiday falling on a Friday, the event sets the stage for a festive long weekend.

“Canada Day at Shipyards Live is free to enter, fun, and a great way to spend the holiday,” said organizer Christian Aldred. “With great live music, food trucks, a video dance party, face painting for the kids and more, everyone will have a great time.”

For those looking to enjoy some live music, Roadside Attraction will be at the event playing a tribute to iconic Canadian rock group The Tragically Hip. Other performers include The Shenanigans, Fully Loaded, and 5 Star Motel, as well as Mom Bop for the kiddos.
