Meanwhile, the provincial government rolled out its cannabis website — bccannabisstores.com — at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, where customers can order a wide array of cannabis products and accessories.

Visitors to the site must enter their birthdays to confirm they are at least 19 years of age (another age-verification check is conducted upon delivery).

From there, customers are directed to the website, which offers for sale dried flower, oils and capsules, pre-rolled joints, high CBD products and various paraphernalia, including rolling papers (including flavoured, such as cotton candy), hand pipes, grinders, bongs, storage containers, vaporizer pens and scissors.

Customers can sort the product based on price, based on best-sellers, based on featured items, based on oldest to newest or alphabetically.

The cost for marijuana varies depending on the product and brand. There is a flat rate delivery charge of $10 per order and Canada Post is the courier.

For example, there are 30 brands of dried flower, ranging from $6.99 per gram to $123.99 for 15 grams (the high-end stuff being Hanna Haze, Mazaj and Glacier Kush). There is also 5% GST and 7% PST tacked on to the prices.

Under pre-rolled joints, the BC Cannabis Stores website features six brands, with product ranging from one Thc biomed joint for $4.20 to five Saturday Hindu Kush joints for $55.

The website also has sections dealing with cannabis education, including a tab called Find Your way, which includes this offering:

“Cannabis products may be loosely grouped into categories such as indica-dominant, sativa-dominant, hybrids of indica and sativa, and high-CBD, which contain greater than four percent CBD by weight. Everyone is affected differently by different products, so new users need to start low, go slow. Novice users should choose products that have a higher CBD to THC ratio since this may reduce the risk of over-intoxication from THC. Remember, what works for others may not work for you. Educating yourself and cautious experimentation will help you find your way.”
