The province has announced the next age group eligible to register for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment this week.

While B.C. is only booking residents in their 60s for their vaccination appointments right now, those who are 18 and older can start registering online, over the phone at 1-833-838-2323 or in-person at a Service BC location by the end of this week.

“Registration is the first step. Once registered, people will be contacted when it is their turn to book a vaccine appointment,” said Ministry of Health in a statement.

“To preserve system capacity, wait until your age group is called to register.”

According to the Ministry of Health, more than 1.8 million residents in the province are invited to register for their vaccine as B.C.’s Get Vaccinated program moves forward.

The upcoming week’s registration schedule is as follows:

  • People ages 40 and up can register starting Monday, April 19
  • People ages 35 and up can register starting Tuesday, April 20
  • People ages 30 and up can register starting Wednesday, April 21
  • People ages 25 and up can register starting Thursday, April 22
  • People ages 18 and up can register starting Friday, April 23

When registering, residents will need their personal health number, postal code, first and last names, date of birth and an email address or a phone number that can receive text messages.

Indigenous peoples 18 and up as well, people born in 1976 and earlier as well as those who are clinically extremely vulnerable have already been invited to register.

Meanwhile, under the parallel, pharmacy-based vaccine program, people aged 55 to 65 can opt to get their shot at local pharmacies, which are distributing the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Since the Get Vaccinated registration and booking system launched on April 6, more than 1.1 million people have registered and more than 400,000 have booked their shot.

More than 1.2 million British Columbians have received their first dose of the vaccine, according to the province.
