A Burnaby woman was hurt after two intruders busted into her home and hit her with a dose of bear spray.

The incident happened on Friday in the 4000 block of Pandora Street. Burnaby RCMP say two young males forced their way into the home of a woman and sprayed her in the face.

“We believe it was over a dispute,” said Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Brett Cunningham. “We believe they know each other.”

The woman was alone in the home, Cunningham said.

Burnaby firefighters were also on scene and the home needed to be aired out.

Bear spray is a common item used by criminals to disable someone.

On Friday, Burnaby RCMP say its Prolific Offender Suppression Team (POST) recovered some bear spray that was seized along with an Airsoft pistol.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious man looking into vehicles.
