COVID-19 outbreak in New West declared over

Another COVID-19 outbreak has been declared over in New West

Fraser Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak over at Royal Columbian Hospital. With the implementation of comprehensive strategies, there is no longer an outbreak at this site, said Fraser Health, which didn’t list how many cases were involved at RCH.

This news follows a major outbreak at long-term care home Royal City Manor being declared over recently after 133 cases and 31 deaths.

BCCDC data show New Westminster had a total of 67 new cases between Feb. 28 and March 6 – down slightly from the 71 new coronavirus cases between Feb. 21 and 27 – the same number as Feb.14 and 20. These past three weeks were up sharply from the 46 cases from Feb. 7 to 13, and the 50 new coronavirus cases between Jan. 31 and Feb. 6, but down from the 85 new coronavirus cases between Jan. 24 and 30.

Fraser Health has also declared a COVID-19 outbreak over at Chartwell Carrington House Retirement Residence in Mission.

Fraser Health Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Vitrum Glass, a glass manufacturer located at 9785 – 201 Street in Langley.

To date, 44 employees of the facility have tested positive for COVID-19 as part of this outbreak. Case and contact management is ongoing. Those identified as cases and close contacts have been instructed to self-isolate.

In addition, Fraser Health conducted testing and provided COVID-19 immunizations on-site as measures to stop the transmission occurring at the facility.
