Inspirational words are in high demand during the COVID-19 pandemic, but so is the need for support for young people – a fundraiser by London Drugs is combining these two.

Richmond’s London Drugs has launched a “Be Kind” campaign, inviting people to send handwritten cards of appreciation and messages of positivity to each other.

Starting today, 25 cents from the purchase of Carlton and Papyrus Greeting Cards at London Drugs will go directly towards the Kids Help Phone, a Canadian Charitable organization that provides free counselling services to youth across Canada.

Kids Help Phone services has seen a significant increase in the number of calls and texts from youth across Western Canada. However, they have had to explore new ways to raise funds to meet the surging demand for services as their annual fundraising campaign has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

“We are all living in more isolated circumstances,” said Clint Mahlman, London Drugs president and chief operating officer. “Sending uplifting, reassuring and positive handwritten cards to friends, families and neighbours is one way to improve our overall well-being and a sense of connection.”

Kids Help Phone is the only 24/7 mental health support service available to youth in Canada.

Young people can text “TALK” to 686868 anytime to receive free and confidential support.
