BC Ferries cancellations affect Powell River travellers

Sailings between Little River and Westview Terminal, Langdale and Horseshoe Bay called off due to adverse weather

BC Ferries has announced that a round-tip sailing between Little River (Comox) and Westview Terminal (Powell River) on Wednesday, January 15, has been cancelled.

According to a BC Ferries travel advisory, the 7:10 pm Salish Eagle sailing departing Comox and 8:45 pm return trip from Powell River will not run.

“Many of our terminals have experienced heavy overnight snow, and there is a deep low pressure system that will cross Vancouver Island this evening,” stated the advisory. “Ahead of the low, hurricane force southeast winds of 70 to 90 km/h will develop in Greater Victoria early in the evening and spread to the Southern Gulf Islands, East Vancouver Island - Duncan to Nanaimo, southern and western sections of Metro Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast later in the evening.” 

Sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale from 3 pm onward have also been cancelled. Malaspina Sky is still operating between Saltery Bay and Earls Cove.
