BC Ferries has announced that the first round-tip sailing between Little River (Comox) and Westview Terminal (Powell River) on Thursday, January 16, has been cancelled.

According to a BC Ferries travel advisory, the 6:15 am Salish Eagle sailing departing Comox and 8:05 am return trip from Powell River will not run today.

The advisory stated that the safety of passengers and crew is of primary importance to BC Ferries.

"We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations," stated BC Ferries. "We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so."

At 9:15 am, BC Ferries announced that Salish Eagle has resumed sailing.
