Final count of Powell River-Sunshine Coast ballots begins tomorrow

9,046 certification envelopes had been received for the Powell River-Sunshine Coast riding as of November 5, according to Elections BC.

Certification envelopes include mail-in ballots, absentee ballots and votes cast at the district electoral office. Voters in the riding requested 8,338 mail-in ballots.

Among 41,282 registered voters, 16,068 votes were cast in advance voting and on election day.

Incumbent MLA Nicholas Simons (NDP) led with 7,719 votes after election day, Kim Darwin (BC Greens) was second with 5,541 and Sandra Stoddart-Hansen (BC Liberals) was third with 2,811.

A minimum of 13 days has been set aside for Elections BC to prepare for the final count, beginning on November 6.
