Police patrol: Powell River crime report

Powell River RCMP reported the following for November 1 to 7, 2018.

November 1; Powell River
At approximately 11:55 am, police responded to a report of an assault with a weapon. A youth received serious burns when a lit firecracker was placed in his pocket by another youth. The victim was taken to hospital, where he received medical attention to deal with the injuries. No charges are being considered at the request of the victim, but police spoke to everyone involved and reminded them of the dangers of fireworks and the possible criminal charges that could have resulted from this incident.

November 1; Cranberry Street
At approximately 4:01 pm, police stopped a vehicle speeding on Cranberry Street. The 51-year-old male driving the vehicle showed signs of impairment and a breath sample was requested to determine his level of sobriety. The male refused to provide a sample and, as a result, was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day impound under the BC Motor Vehicle Act.

November 5; Complex Way
At approximately 2:26 pm, police responded to a mischief report. A vehicle parked at Powell River Recreation Complex for the weekend had a window smashed and the vehicle had been gone through. Nothing was stolen from inside.  

November 6; Willingdon Avenue
At approximately 12:27 pm, RCMP members responded to a report of a theft from a motorcycle. The motorcycle was parked at Westview Ferry Terminal at the time of the theft. Sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning a bag was taken off the back of the motorcycle. The bag is described as having a plastic top, nylon sides and being grey in colour.
