Powell River RCMP reported the following for February 7 to 13, 2019

February 11

Michigan Avenue, 4500 Block

At approximately 9 am police responded to a report of a theft of mail. At 6:17 am on that day an unknown male was seen walking up to the front door of a residence, taking mail from the box and leaving. A video of the suspect was provided to police, but due to the video quality no positive identification could be made. The RCMP would like to remind everyone to check and empty their mail boxes every day, and to try and have any packages delivered when they are at home or to their place of work, to prevent mail and package theft.

 

February 12

Pole Line

At 9:10 am police responded to a report of a break and enter at a BC Hydro substation located between Powell River General Hospital and Timberlane Park. Sometime between February 9 and 12 someone cut the lock on the compound and broke into a workshop on the property. A significant number of items, valued in excess of $20,000, were stolen from inside. February 12

Marine Avenue

At 9:40 pm police stopped a vehicle driving southbound on Marine Avenue. While speaking to the 35-year-old female driving the car, police detected signs of impairment. The female was arrested and a drug impairment test was completed. The female may be facing charges of impaired driving as this matter is still under investigation.
