August 23; Joyce Avenue and Alberni Street
At 11:52 am, police received a report of a hit and run collision that occurred at approximately 12:30 pm on August 22. It was reported that a female driving a brown 2006 Ford Focus was rear-ended by an older red Jeep YJ as the vehicles approached the intersection at Joyce Avenue and Alberni Street. The Ford sustained minor damage to the rear of the vehicle and the jeep drove away.

August 27; Chilcotin Avenue, 5200 block
At approximately 9:23 am, police responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle. Sometime between 7 pm on August 26 and 6 am on August 27, the truck, a silver Chevrolet, was gone through and approximately $400, a wallet and a knife were taken from inside.

School back in session
As the summer winds down, Powell River RCMP would like to remind drivers that school will be back in session on Tuesday, September 3, and that school zones will be in effect that day. Please use extra caution while driving as there will be more students on the roads and sidewalks. Police will also be conducting extra traffic enforcement during this time, particularly in and around school zones.
