Powell River RCMP reported the following for May 28 to June 3, 2020.

Total calls for service: 118
Thefts: 5

May 30; Joyce Avenue
At approximately 10:56 am, police responded to a mischief complaint at Powell River Recreation Complex. Sometime during the previous night, a number of the COVID-19 social distancing signs at that location were spray-painted with graffiti. At the time of the report it was unknown how many signs were vandalized and what the value of the damage was.

June 2; Marine Avenue
At approximately 4:57 pm, police responded to a collision on Marine Avenue north of Willingdon Beach. The driver of a red GMC truck lost control of the vehicle, left the road and collided with a telephone pole on the opposite side of the road. Both the vehicle and pole sustained serious damage. The driver had minor injuries and was taken to Powell River General Hospital for assessment.

NOTICE: Powell River RCMP is reminding drivers that 30-kilometre per hour school zones are now in effect from 8 am to 5 pm on school days as school is back in session. As children return to school, police are asking drivers to leave extra travel time, stay focused on the road and watch for children, especially around school zones.
