At the virtual Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC) annual general meeting, held on September 22 during the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) convention, qathet Regional District Electoral Area B director Mark Gisborne was elected as an AVICC director-at-large.
In a media release, Gisborne expressed his appreciation regarding his recent appointment.
“I am honoured to have been elected to the AVICC executive for the position of director-at-large,” stated Gisborne. “I am looking forward to serving the diverse membership that represent the Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities. 2020 is a challenging year for everyone, and now is the time to move forward with broad collaboration between our urban and rural communities.”
AVICC represents local governments located on Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast, qathet, the north coast and the central coast. AVICC is one of five area associations of local governments operating under the umbrella of the UBCM.
The media release states that qathet Regional District congratulates Gisborne for his hard work and continued dedication to local government advocacy.
