Quick Peak: Firefighters on scene at Lund brush fire

Province and Northside volunteer firefighters battle half-acre blaze

Fire crews from the provincial government and Northside Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD) are on site of a 0.4 hectare brush fire south of Lund.

According to BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), the fire, burning in an area off Edyth Road, is not currently threatening homes, but the service has raised the wildfire danger rating for Powell River to high. Crews arrived on the scene just before 3 pm.

BCWS, a branch of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, responded with a helicopter and an initial attack crew of three firefighters and NVFD deployed one engine, a water tender and a crew of five volunteers.

UPDATE: The fire has been contained and is now out.
