School District 47 shuffles principals

Transfers initiated through collaborative process, says superintendent of schools

In September, students and staff at many School District 47 schools will welcome new principals. 

“The board is pleased to announce the following appointments and transfers that were initiated through a collaborative process considering the needs of students, individuals and the district’s strategic direction,” said superintendent of schools Jay Yule in a media release.

Henderson Elementary School principal Kristen Brach will be moving to the school district office and taking over the role of district principal of learning and innovation. Brooks Secondary school vice-principal Lisa Gunnwill become the new principal of James Thompson Elementary School, a post currently held by Jasmin Marshman, who will take over the principal role at  Henderson.

Shannon Behan is taking over as principal at Westview Elementary School. She will maintain her role as School District 47 International Student Program district principal. 

“The program is growing,” said Behan. “We are fortunate to be able to add additional teachers to be working in the program, but I fully intend on continuing to lead and develop the international program.”

Westview’s current principal, Jamie Burt moves to Kelly Creek Community School.

All appointments are effective August 1.
