BC Ferries has announced that the MV Island Discovery resumed sailing with the 6 am departure from Blubber Bay on Saturday, July 18.

BC Ferries executive director of public affairs Deborah Marshall said engineers made a temporary repair to the vessel to put it back in service.

Island Discovery had been out of service and was not making sailings due to a mechanical malfunction.

According to a media release, the safety of passengers and crew is of primary importance to BC Ferries.

“We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations,” the release stated.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of earlier cancellations.”

BC Ferries states its goal is to inform its customers as early as possible of any changes to scheduled sailings.

“We recommend that for the most up-to-date sailing and departure information, our customers also follow @BCFerries on Twitter, visit our current conditions webpage at bcferries.com or call us toll free at 1.888.223.3779.
