Letter: Support for caregivers

As a follow up to Vivian Tsai's viewpoint [“Dementia journey can be incredibly isolating,” February 8], we would like to provide information about the local support group for caregivers looking after a family member with Alzheimer's disease or other

As a follow up to Vivian Tsai's viewpoint [“Dementia journey can be incredibly isolating,” February 8], we would like to provide information about the local support group for caregivers looking after a family member with Alzheimer's disease or other form of dementia.

Group members share experiences, information, and useful strategies, and in doing so support each other through the caregiving journey.

We are volunteer facilitators who have received training from the Alzheimer's Society and have a professional background working in this area. We guide the group process, have a small lending library available to group members, and distribute useful information and updates at the meetings and via email. The support group meets once a month at Powell River Recreation Complex. Please contact us for more information at 604.485.6202 or 604.483.4224.
