Several recent articles in the Peak regarding the upcoming budget for our community, describe the endless pressure to increase our taxes for high priority needs [“Council begins budget process for 2019,” February 1]. Taxpayer funded reports describe why each department needs more money for wages and capital expenses or the sky will fall.

I understand the need for taxes and love our community. The present public input into our budget process is a great start. My only ask is: which department is writing reports on efficiencies to reduce our taxes and return some money to folks in our community who need a break?

How refreshing it would be to hear from a department or the municipality recommending less funding or lower taxes. I'm looking forward to these stories in our local newspaper.
