There have been four new cases of COVID-19 detected in Richmond in the past week, bringing the total number to 101.

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) released the latest numbers on Thursday afternoon.

The province overall has seen an uptick in cases since it moved into Phase 3 of the pandemic with more businesses re-opening.

On Thursday, 29 new cases of COVID-19 were reported across the province but only five people are in hospital with the virus.

Richmond residents who have symptoms and need to be tested can go to the COVID-19 testing site in the parking lot of the Richmond Tennis Club at 6820 Gilbert Rd.

The Richmond Assessment Centre (RAC) is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.and statutory holidays from 9 a.m. to noon. The testing site is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Those coming to the RAC will not need a referral or appointment and will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

Testing is recommended for anyone with cold, influenza or COVID-19-like symptoms, even if symptoms are mild. While the criteria for testing expanded recently, not everyone needs a test, according to Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).
