Super League curlers completed their 16-game regular season recently at Powell River Curling Club’s rink in Cranberry with Ken Abbs’ team capturing top spot with a 13 and 3 record.
The team, which was sponsored by EKA Chemicals again this year, includes Dale Ashby, Matt Wate and super spare Rick Maksymetz. Second place went to Mike Cameron’s team sponsored by Underwriters Insurance Agencies Powell River Ltd., which had the same number of wins but defeated Felix Massullo of Massullo Motors based on their win/loss record. Fourth was Gord Milne’s team representing Texada Transfer, Texada Island Inn and Vanderkemps Sales and Service.
Playoff action has begun and games take place Tuesdays at 7 pm until March 12. Spectators are always welcome.
In the A event, Abbs will play against Cameron, and Massullo will play Milne. In the B event, the teams of Bill Hunter’s Triple H Electric team will play Jim Sawka, with the winner then playing Glen Gibbs’ A&W Restaurant team. Don Bourcier, sponsored by Bourman Developments will play Barrie Phillips, Shinglemill Pub and Bistro.
