More than 100 people participated in Savary Island’s 13th annual triathlon, Sunday, July 29, a friendly event where both individuals and teams can compete in the competitive or recreational categories. The race consisted of a 700-metre swim followed by a 12-kilometre cycle and finished with a five-kilometre run.

First place in the competitive team category and fastest time overall went to Team Riggers at 1:04:15. The team, which was sponsored by Riggers Pub, consisted of Craig and James Cochran and Liam McGuigan.

With 1:07:22, Team Unida, of Mike and Theresa Verdiel and Louis Perreault, took first place in the recreational team category.

In the individual race, top male and female competitive athletes were Sean Lindsay, at 1:05:07, and Inge Tholen, at 1:05:55. Recreationally, Reid Stobbart took top male spot with 1:09:58, while Liv Wilson grabbed top female spot with a time of 1:08:52.
