Bulldogs shut out Powell River Kings in Port Alberni

In his first start since being signed by the Powell River Kings, Thomas Wardle stopped 40 shots, but his team was unable to provide offensive support in Alberni Valley on Saturday, November 2.

The host Bulldogs outshot the Kings 44 to 26 and converted four of those opportunities into goals while the visitors came up empty against the third-place team in the BC Hockey League Island Division.

Alberni scored even-strength goals in each period and added a powerplay marker in the middle frame.

With the win, the Bulldogs increased their lead over the fourth-place Kings in the standings to five points and moved within three points of Nanaimo Clippers and Cowichan Valley Capitals, who share top spot with 26 points each.

Attendance at Weyerhaeuser Arena in Port Alberni was 897.

Kings play their third road game in three days at Frank Crane Arena this afternoon against the Clippers. Game time is 2 pm.

Powell River’s next home game is Friday, November 8, versus West Kelowna Warriors. Game time at Hap Parker Arena is 7 pm. Coquitlam Express visit for an afternoon game starting at 1:30 pm on Sunday, November 10.
