After dropping a lopsided, 7-0 decision to Powell River Kings on Friday, January 31, the top team in the BC Hockey League Island Division has defeated that same opponent on two occasions.

The home team scored midway through the first period, and again in the last minute to take a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. Both goals came on power plays.

Kings’ goaltender Thomas Wardle made 30 saves in the game, including 11 in a scoreless second period. His counterpart Zach Borgiel stopped 30 shots to record the shutout.

Cowichan added an insurance marker at 13:36 of the third period to round out the scoring. Attendance at Cowichan Community Centre was 791.

Powell River returns home to host Alberni for a pair of games on Friday, February 7 (7 pm), and Saturday, February 8 (5 pm).
