Powell River’s Bantam All-Stars took on Comox for two games over the weekend and came home with three points for the effort.

On Saturday night the All-Stars came out with a 3-3 tie with Comox in a good, hard-skating game. Locals found themselves on the bottom end of a 2-1 score halfway through the first period. Powell River scored first, Mike Carriere at the 54 second mark.

In the second period the locals started to skate and by the 5:17 mark they had put two more goals on the board. Brent Stevens scored from Mike Carriere at 1:23 and Ralph Ketchum scored unassisted. Comox scored once more to make the score at the end of the second 3-3.

Third period was even with both sides having good scoring opportunities but neither side could capitalize.

Point-getters for Comox were Brent Aitken with a goal and an assist, Wayne Calberry with a goal, Stu Bale with a goal, Sheldon Nelson with an assist and Bill Turner with an assist.

On Sunday it looked like the same story all over again with Comox taking control of the first period and going into the second with a 2-1 lead. Gerry Brach scored the locals only goal of the first at 16:31.

All-Stars hit the ice in the second period revitalized and put in three goals in the first ten minutes of play. Scoring for the locals were Mike Carriere from Ted Stroomer at 3:48; Gerry Brach from Brad Tonks and Gerry Hildebrand at 8:29 and Ted Stroomer from Terry Lupul and Gerry Hildebrande at 10:20. Comox retaliated with a goal at 15:01.

The third period was all hard skating and both teams showed some great team effort. The locals got the final goal of the night; Ralph Ketchum scored unassisted at 8:21.

Scoring for Comox was Stu Bale, Bill Tanner and Wayne Calberry.
